Consultations on bovine TB

Defra consultation and call for views launched in January 2021

A consultation on the next phase of the Government’s strategy to eradicate bovine TB in England by 2038 was launched on 27 January by Environment Secretary George Eustice. The eight-week consultation sought views on a range of proposals following the Government’s response to an independent review of its eradication strategy, led by Professor Sir Charles Godfray. The Government also called for views on possible future measures to accelerate bovine TB eradication in England, such as further improvements to TB testing, supporting responsible cattle movements and rewarding low risk cattle purchasing behaviour.

The consultation received 20,395 responses. The Government published its response on 27 May 2021.
